Supporting a Healthier Community One Tooth at a Time!
CRC recently partnered with the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) to provide free dental care for the students of John Muir Middle School in Southern Los Angeles. This event represents the second series that CRC has helped bring much-needed dental services to low-income middle school and elementary school students. The mobile dental clinic services will continue for the next two years and reach as many as 150 students per year.
Todd Stevens, CRC’s President and CEO said, “We are very pleased to be able to provide dental care to these young kids – many of whom do not have access to regular or even any dental care. CRC believes that education is a great equalizer in the lives of our youth, and we want to make sure kids show up to school healthy from head to toe – including their teeth – ready to learn and thrive.”
The kickoff for the dental clinic was held on Saturday, October 20th with the support of Todd Stevens, Avishai Sadan, Dean of Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, Dr. George J. McKenna, LAUSD Board Member of District 1, and County of LA Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
Mark Ridley-Thomas, said, “By learning good dental hygiene, we empower kids to make easy changes to address health problems that have already begun to plague them. A child’s overall well-being impacts their academic achievements, so this effort is firing on all cylinders and ready to make a big difference thanks to all the sponsors, faculty and kids.”
